Pantone/PMS
PMS stands for Pantone Matching System, which consists of over 1100 colours (including gold, silver, metallic inks and neon colours) that have their own code. These standardised colours are the same worldwide.
Corporate identity printing without color differences
PMS printers are becoming increasingly scarce, many (online) printers only print in full color. For printing with specific colors, such as your own corporate identity color, the choice for PMS is a logical one. It prevents color differences between, for example, printing from different printers, but also between printing that was printed in different periods. Choosing a color for your printing is best done with a Pantone color chart.
Pantone Coated or Uncoated impeller?
There are 2 fans: one that shows the colours on Coated paper and one that shows the colours on Uncoated paper. The choice of paper has a great influence on the effect of the printed colour. If you want the colours of the paper to pop, choose a Coated type. If the colours are more subdued, you can choose a rougher Uncoated type. We are happy to advise you.
Using PMS Colors in Adobe
Do you want to deliver a file with PMS colors ready for printing?
In Adobe InDesign and Illustrator you can find the color lists via ‘New color swatch’ -> ‘Color mode’ -> ‘Pantone Solid Coated’ or ‘Pantone Solid Uncoated’. Save the PDF with profile ‘PDF/x-1a:2001’.
