Die cutting is cutting shapes that the cutting machine cannot make, such as boxes, round shapes or figures in the middle of the paper. The die cutting knife can also immediately make creases (fold lines).
Laser cutting
When a die is very detailed, we do not use a die cutter but choose to laser cut the paper or cardboard. In this way, the die is applied with great precision, without smoky edges.
Custom packaging
We make boxes in all shapes and sizes so that they close nicely around the content. The design and drawing of the (complex glueless) packaging is done in our studio. Making dummies to check the box is an important part of the design. The studio then makes the die-cutting shape digitally so that the designer can put the layout in the template. We like to look for suitable types of paper with the desired appearance. Printing is possible in PMS colours, but we also make luxury boxes with foil, embossing or thermoprint. More information and examples can be found on our ‘packaging‘ page.
Specialty printing company Douma stands for customization, craftsmanship and exclusivity in print. We are happy to provide you with a price quote, so you won't face any surprises later. With techniques such as foil printing and embossing, a unique die is made for each design, which is a precise and time-consuming process. Our prices therefore start from approximately €500 per assignment, even for small print runs.
